I've purchased this feeder & have been using it today with my Epson 3490 Scanner, and while I've gotten through a bunch of photos today, it misfeeds so much I have to constantly babysit it.

It brings the photo in & scans it just fine, but then when it goes to eject it, it just misfeeds and errors. It doesn't damage the print, and it doesn't even enter the paper path; it just seems that sometimes this thing doesn't want to push the photos out.

I've tried the above suggestion of putting something on top of the feeder to weigh it down, but that doesn't do anything. If anybody has had my same problem, and has come up with a solution, I'd LOVE to hear about it! jeff.youngren@gmail.com

I just set up the Epson Perfection 3490 Photo (Scanner) along with the Epson Multi Photo feeder ontop. Connected the two together with the cord and everything else is plauged into correct locations also. The flatbed scanner scans, when I ask it to scan, but nothing happens with the Multi Photo feeder.
Under troubleshooting (Windows XP) when, under Programs, Epson, under "Events" it said to make sure "Take no action" is highlighted. Well it IS highlighted and it won't allow me to change it. Any ideas?

I was looking for an auto scanning gismo wit no joy so I have today scanned in a few bundles of old photos on my hp officejet 4215 all-in one which has been siiting ther wondering what the big deal was!. Put the photos in the feeder, slide the guides in and scan with the hp software provided. You can give each file a name and consecutive number. I did 9 in one go. Not sure what the limit is feeder wise (only had 9). Its a bout 3 years old. Results are plenty good enough for old snaps. Obviously you need a pc as well! The solution may already be here....

The reviews on this HP Scanner weren't so good, but in finding reviews I came across this scanner (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=14277837&findingMethod=rr ) and it appears to fit the need perfectly and for less than half the cost. All the reviews were great and I really think I will buy it and give it a try. Shall try to remember and post back here how it works. May need someone to send me an email, with this url, in a couple weeks to remind me to come back here and post my thoughts on it.

I have this same issue and came across this post which was very helpful and depressing at the same time. However, I decided to continue my searching and came across this URL (http://www.superwarehouse.com/HP_ScanJet_5590_Digital_Flatbed_Scanner/L1910A201/pr/1515211) which seems very promising after reading the details. The only thing I didn't see it say was the minimum photo size. So, I am going to do a little more searching and may chat with HP online if I cannot find anything.

There's a digital scrapbooking company called heritage makers and my consultants will come to my house in WA State with a commercial photo scanner and have a scanning party for all of my friends. There is a fee, but worth it, and I don't have to buy and set up equipment that I will no longer need once my photos are digital. Tried it last week and did over 500 photos in a couple of hours. Having a bigger party in August!!
